“Bayanihan” is a Filipino term derived from the word “bayan” meaning town, nation or community in general. It literally means “being a bayan” and thus, it used to refer to a spirit of communal unity and cooperation.
Why Bayanihan?
VCCI as a community and a family naturally has a “Bayanihan” spirit. We have already been exercising unity and harmony throughout programs and day-to-day events, which was launched in 2017. We yearn to be more organized and desire to develop more camaraderie, bonding, fellowship, and friendship as brothers and sisters in Christ – not only during Sundays but also in our daily life.
We say “Go Bayanihan” which aims to encourage each member and family of the VCCI to embrace and help one another not just physically but also in spirit and in prayer. Every member can say “I can do something for my brethren!” or simply lend a hand to our co-members at any time.
Feeling at home, “Bayanihan” feels home away from home. Not only is it a word that always makes us feel accepted and loved but also a word that we always value for it reminds us to cherish our Filipino heritage.
Through this program of our church, we can shine to others if we practice it regularly and joyfully in our lives. As the scripture says, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Mattew 5:16).
VCCI as a church can make a difference, by the grace fo God we can start it from ourselves to “Think globally, but act locally.”
